Northlands Rescue Mission

We are an emergency shelter that serves individuals and families experiencing homelessness in northeastern North Dakota. Our shelter has assisted people experiencing homelessness since 1942. We can provide shelter for up to 150 adults and 3 families at this time. We provide three meals a day to our clients and two meals a day to the community-at-large. We are currently serving about 200-250 meals a day to non-shelter members of our community. We have a food pantry that is open 5 days a week, and we do a mobile food pantry in a four county region. We provide client choice food support to the Mentor Center, a program that provides mentoring and tutoring to middle school and high school students, and we provide special small food boxes for people who receive Meals on Wheels, through a partnership with our senior center. Northlands Rescue Mission provides weekend food for over 1200 students each week through our Backpack Program for Kids. We partner with a local provider to provide onsite mental health and substance abuse supports to our clients. We have a social work staff that does outreach and homeless prevention, and works with our clients to find permanent stable housing and connects them to other community resources. We also provide our clients with clothing, toiletries, and other basic necessities while they are in shelter. As they transition to housing, we provide towels, kitchen stuff, bedding, furniture, etc.

What we need most

For our Backpack Program, we need main meals, juice, fruit, snacks, and breakfast items that are shelf-stable and nut-free. For our dining services and food pantry, we can use canned and fresh produce, meat, dairy, bread products. We use large commercial packaged items in our meal service and smaller canned items in our food boxes.

Northlands Rescue Mission is a non-profit organization.
